Who am I is the question that an “About Us” post is supposed to answer.
The easy answer is that I am a husband, father and grandfather, and surprisingly, all in one.
I have the experience -), of at least travelling the path in these waters which sometimes can get quite stormy.
The difficult answer is another question. Does this give me the authorization necessary for giving advice on how and what to do when you have kids?
The answer to this would be a very small “yes” and a big “no”.
A tiny “yes”, because I have “some” experience in the field and can pass this experience to others.
The no is because each and every child is different and somewhere down the path of history the “child operating manual” just got too complicated or was lost.
So what are we doing here? The answer is simple. I enjoy writing and some of it will be posted in this blog. I also enjoy my family very much. I am happily married to the best partner one could wish for, who is also my best friend and lover for the last thirty-five years.
I am proud to be able to say that we have three wonderful children, a boy and twin girls. Good people, and this is what really counts in the end. We’ll talk a lot about “good people” in my posts. They are already grown up. Our son and one of the girls are married. Thus we also have a daughter and son in law who are an important and integral part of our family. Two more kids for us.
The greatest part of being a dad is the products of your kids, the grandchildren.
Our son together and daughter-in law, and as of July their daughter, live on their horse ranch in the US. We live across an ocean and a sea in Israel. Our daughters and son in law live close by us.
We are very lucky to have our first two grandchildren, a boy of three and his sister of two, right by us. We see them just about every day. As a granddad, I am witness to the extraordinary little things that small kids do. Things that one does not always see or realize as a parent.
Our other daughter, with her wide perpetual smile, runs a successful cosmetic business.
They say that having grandchildren is the best. That’s true, but let’s not forget “who made them”.
You get to be an integral part of these unbelievable little people’s lives. That is if you choose to be. I know many who haven’t chosen so. Their loss.
As a granddad you see “being a dad” in a much calmer, more mature and “tense lacking” eyes. You also don’t have the responsibility of being a parent. And it’s great.
If you could, skip the kids, and go directly to the grand-kids -).
But remember you are always a dad.
It is always exciting to start something new. The idea of a site of my own just came to me one afternoon after work when I was “babysitting”.
So, I decided to start a blog and share my insights and thoughts, on parenting, life in general and anything that will come to mind. I will also be posting chapters of a book that I am writing “Always a Dad”.
I enjoy writing and have published my first book a couple of years ago “My Magical Llamas”, currently being sold on Amazon. Will also soon be publishing the first illustrated Magical Llamas book, “Noah’s Birthday Party”. Magical Llamas are another great story that will be added in the future to the Blog. I am also in the middle of a suspense novel, but that’s another story. Halfway through so quite a lot to still go.
The above are my main credentials with regard to “Always a Dad”.
What I do for a living is not really relevant with regards to the site. I have an MSc from Tel Aviv University in Zoology. The company I work for is quite a large Pharmaceutical company with it’s main business in the US and then Europe. I am not in the pharmaceutical side of the business. Here in Israel we have a division called “The Diagnostics Division”. We supply and support all the necessary instruments, reagents etc. for running tests in clinical laboratories. Being in charge of this division I am responsible for all the sales, marketing and support (applicative and technical) functions.
I hope that you will enjoy your stay here, come back , take part in discussions and please comment. I would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions and grow with you.
Have a great time in whatever you are doing.
Look always at the full half of a glass, smile and have fun.
Thanks for visiting
